Art Making for People Living with Dementia
In 2018 I decided to put my museum and galleries MA into action and develop a programme aimed at engaging people living with dementia with art. It is based on a project by MOMA in New York which I studied at the University of Leicester.
The idea is to introduce some artworks to the group all along a central theme then get the group to create their own masterpieces.
I have tried to introduce more elements of reminiscence into my sessions – in these examples the group used old photos of the town they live in, and have built up a colourful collage.
It was a great experience and I have learnt a lot from the people I met – and I hope to roll out these sessions again in the near future.
